Privacy, in short
- No account, nothing to sign up for. The studio does not ask for your name, email or anything else.
- Your work stays on your device. The piece you are working on is kept in your browser's own storage so it is there next time you open the studio. It is not sent to us or anyone. It leaves your device only if you choose to Save it as a file, Copy it, or make a Share link (a Share link carries the piece inside the link itself).
- No cookies. The studio and these pages do not set cookies.
What our hosting sees
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host it processes the technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser, to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. The studio itself loads nothing from any other website.
Advertising
If you see ads on this site, they are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where the law requires it, you will be asked before any such cookie is set. Ads are never placed inside the player or the notation.
Support and donations
If you support the work, the payment goes through Ko-fi (and its card or PayPal processor) or your own UPI app and bank. We receive only what those services pass on, such as the name you give, and we keep it only for our accounts.
Children
The studio collects nothing from anyone, including children.

Credits
The reets and the book
The shabad reets, the taal dictionary and the raag introductions come from Gurmat Sangeet Sagar by Principal Dyal Singh (1934–2012). They are used with the kind permission of his family and the publisher. The notation is theirs; the transcription into the studio, and any mistake in it, is ours. Each reet in the studio names the book, part and page it comes from.
The shabads are Gurbani, from Sri Guru Granth Sahib; each reet gives the ang.
Thekas the studio plays
For a few taals the studio sounds the common theka rather than the book's printing, keeping the book's sam, taali and khali (each taal's page says which). Those common thekas were checked against: en.wikipedia.org, rhombuspublishing.com, sites.math.washington.edu, dancekarishma.com. The ten thaats follow Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande's system.
The aakar voice
The sung aakar voice is built from the VocalSet singing-voice dataset: J. Wilkins, P. Seetharaman, A. Wahl and B. Pardo, “VocalSet: A Singing Voice Dataset”, ISMIR 2018, doi:10.5281/zenodo.1193957, licensed CC BY 4.0. We use the tone of one singer's soft held “a” (singer m6), measured and re-synthesised in your browser at whatever pitch the music asks for; the recordings themselves are not played.
Tabla, tanpura and instruments
The tabla, tanpura, harmonium, rabab, sarangi and the other instrument sounds are synthesised by the studio in your browser. No recordings are used for them.
